Due to COVID-19, you can't just turn up at either of the big museums in town. So, last night, we booked online to get into the QANTAS Founders Museum at 9am. As it is only a hop, skip and jump from the caravan park, we left about 8:45am and were able to have a short wander around the outside before being admitted. What we didn't realise when we booked was that it was just for the museum, not the Airpark side, so we didn't get to see inside the 747 nor any of the other aircraft in the airpark. Not to worry, we will be back, no doubt, sometime in the future. Maybe by then they'll have the A380 as well!
The trek around the museum took about an hour and we opted to come home for mornos. We then went out on the bikes to explore Longreach. A nice, compact town with some interesting features.
It was time for lunch (light lunch only as it is Saturday night), then a little rest before Greg went out again on the bike. Wendy opted for more homely duties.
We were going to go the RSL for dinner tonight with the VIC neighbours and even made a booking. When we read the reviews (recent) we discovered it was probably not the best place to dine. So, we opted for the Longreach Tavern, and were not disappointed. Greg had a lamb shank with gnocchi and beans and Wendy had, wait for it ...... a rib fillet with chips and salad. Both meals were really good. The company (our neighbours from Phillip Island) was excellent.
Nice colours, Cassia we think
