After breakfast we drove out to Porcupine Gorge for a walk. We drove into the Pyramid Campground which was a 150km round trip. From the Campgound we took the longer of the two walks first and the view was quite speccy. Would have been even better if there was more water in the creek. The second walk to the Pyramid lookout was only 500m return.
Before heading out to the Gorge, we had made brews-to-go and stopped in at the FJ Holden Bakery hoping for a couple of vanilla/custard slices to take with us. Greg ended up with a Beesting and Wendy had a sultana bun, how exciting! We consumed these, along with our homemade coffees before we walked.
A siesta followed lunch, then a ride around the man made lake right next to the Showgrounds, see pic for more info. Amazing that these small communities invest in such infrastructure for the locals, and visitors, to enjoy. Howard and Torbanlea could learn a lot from visiting.
An afternoon spent on domestic chores for Wendy and more riding for Greg.
The wind has been relentless the last week or so; today especially, it could blow the dog off a chain. Not pleasant at all.
Tomorrow we are off to Charters Towers, staying at the same park we stayed at in 2018.
